Well the Andrews have done it again and created a great story with plenty of twists and turns in it。 How do you make a magical inn bonded to an Innkeeper to ignore most the laws a physics even more interesting。 You host a Royal Bachelor competition Intergalactic style。Sean and Dina are settling into life together at the Inn and everything is going pretty well overall。 The Inn is growing。 The permanent guest, Her Grace Caldenia, is content and the live in Chef Orro happy。 Everything is going grea Well the Andrews have done it again and created a great story with plenty of twists and turns in it。 How do you make a magical inn bonded to an Innkeeper to ignore most the laws a physics even more interesting。 You host a Royal Bachelor competition Intergalactic style。Sean and Dina are settling into life together at the Inn and everything is going pretty well overall。 The Inn is growing。 The permanent guest, Her Grace Caldenia, is content and the live in Chef Orro happy。 Everything is going great until we learn Wilmos is missing and may need a little rescuing。 “Nothing can ever be easy,” he said。 “Nope。 We can’t even just walk into a trap like normal people。 We have to work really hard first。”。。。。“We haven’t done anything dumb or dangerous for almost six months。” Sean pushed away from the wall on which he was leaning, walked over, and kissed me。 “Let’s do this。”
To save their friend Sean and Dina need the use of a very special portal that only the Dominion can grant access to。 No problem。。。they can strike a deal。 Catch is to use the portal the Emperor of the Dominion (Caldenia's Nephew, cue family drama because she killed his father) needs the inn to finish out the Royal Selection (#Intergalactic Bachelor) at the inn so he can get it done and maybe not lose any more contestants。 I LOVED this。 This isn't creepy bachelor where we watch one guy smooch on multiple chicks until he picks the hottest and most smoochable。 No no no。 Everyone still in the spouse selection is there for a boon for their people from the Dominion。 Twelve contestants, from various sectors of the galaxy will compete to see who would be the best spouse, parent and partner to the Emperor。 Everything is televised to the people of the Dominion and they get to vote on who they like the best。The contest was so much fun。。。Seriously seeing characters from cultures we already know about was great but taking a tour of some of the other creatures from the galaxy was so interesting。 The Andrews are so good at showing their readers through actions and events what drives certain characters and they did that beautifully here as well。 I loved seeing all the characters interact with each other pushing buttons and seeing how the subtly tried to maneuver through the competition。 Caldenia is definitely the best at it。 “He seems rather annoyed,” she said。 “You permanently damaged Surkar。”“I did no such thing。”“You broke his spirit。”“Then it wasn’t that strong to begin with。 Pain is the best teacher。 Whether he learns his lesson is of no interest to me。”
The story is a big blend of political intrigue along with manipulation to get to the final selection。 I loved every minute of it。 Then there is all of the action of trying to find Wilmos and getting him back。 Which led to some interesting discoveries and brought up more questions。Thank you to the Andrews for another fun and fantastic story。 Also bonus to the readers who loved the Edge Series。。。we get an update on some of our, favorite kids grown up, characters of George, Sophie and Jack。Narration:Nora Sofyan is new to the narration of Innkeeper chronicles。 We previously listened to the fantastic Renee Raudman and while I'm not sure of the details on why the need to change I think Nora did a really good job picking up a series that previously had a different narrator。 Dina the main voice of the series seems to be in good hands and while I did need to adjust my listening speed to 1。65x instead of 1。5x the feeling and voice of all the characters was preformed well and was well distinguishable。 。。。more

Good is an understatement。 This book definitely has my heart pounding。 From the first page to the last。 It was not a fresh serving from the finest kitchen。 No。 Not something you gulp and forget once the taste leaves your tongue。 It was a nicely woven tapestry of colour, action and emotions。 The one you hang on your living area and every glance takes you back to the memories of it。 The one you hand down generations so that others can experience its beauty。 My first book in 2023 and I never wanted Good is an understatement。 This book definitely has my heart pounding。 From the first page to the last。 It was not a fresh serving from the finest kitchen。 No。 Not something you gulp and forget once the taste leaves your tongue。 It was a nicely woven tapestry of colour, action and emotions。 The one you hang on your living area and every glance takes you back to the memories of it。 The one you hand down generations so that others can experience its beauty。 My first book in 2023 and I never wanted it to end。 。。。more

Another great book from Ilona AndrewsAwesome as always。 Fantastic, well planned writing with a lot of deep emotions and action。 We finally get the backstory on Caldenia, which is awesome。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I loved this book。 I knew most of the plot because of the FrInndays, but the ending was superb。 As soon as they landed in the house on Karron, I thought it was her parents inn, and I was right。 Thankfully I was wrong about her parents and their fate。 The introduction to the person behind the corrupted ad-hals, and the disappearance of her parents and their inn is one step closer to the truth。 I look forward to more about Dina’s journey to finding her parents and the reason behind this enemy’s mo I loved this book。 I knew most of the plot because of the FrInndays, but the ending was superb。 As soon as they landed in the house on Karron, I thought it was her parents inn, and I was right。 Thankfully I was wrong about her parents and their fate。 The introduction to the person behind the corrupted ad-hals, and the disappearance of her parents and their inn is one step closer to the truth。 I look forward to more about Dina’s journey to finding her parents and the reason behind this enemy’s motives。 。。。more

I've loved this series of books since the very first Clean Sweep and have them all。 I was so pleased to see that Sweep of the Heart was out and available。 I have read it in record time, in fact was saddened when I finished it only because I didn't want it to end。 Hosting a wedding at the Inn with so many diverse beings from all over the galaxy some of which have very special needs and trying to keep the Groom safe and the participants and their retinues of the spouse selection from each other is I've loved this series of books since the very first Clean Sweep and have them all。 I was so pleased to see that Sweep of the Heart was out and available。 I have read it in record time, in fact was saddened when I finished it only because I didn't want it to end。 Hosting a wedding at the Inn with so many diverse beings from all over the galaxy some of which have very special needs and trying to keep the Groom safe and the participants and their retinues of the spouse selection from each other is more than can be expected from anyone and Dina and Sean do a marvelous job but the strain is enormous and the story is filled with excitement and expectation as the candidates go through their trials。 The happenings around the selection are also riveting as is the outcome。 I thoroughly recommend this book and it was another I could not put down。 。。。more

4。5 stars Sweep of the Heart is the sixth book in the Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews。 We’ve got another audiobook narrator change with Nora Sofyan but I personally found her voice and accents to be the best so far (I know that’s sacrilege for hardcore Renee Raudman/Ilona Andrews fans, but I said it! 🫣)。 I really enjoyed the format of this installment with its homage to The Intergalactic Bachelor!! 🌹😂

Gail,
Admittedly, I'm only about 40% of the way through this book, but so far it reads like The Bachelor in Space with an excess of verbal CGI。 I'm hoping to get to a bit of plot before too much longer。。。Update。 Initially I rated this book 3 stars。 The last 20% of the book had the bulk of the storyline and I'd rate it 4 stars, bringing the total up to 3。5。 (Probably not mathematically correct, but you get the idea。) Admittedly, I'm only about 40% of the way through this book, but so far it reads like The Bachelor in Space with an excess of verbal CGI。 I'm hoping to get to a bit of plot before too much longer。。。Update。 Initially I rated this book 3 stars。 The last 20% of the book had the bulk of the storyline and I'd rate it 4 stars, bringing the total up to 3。5。 (Probably not mathematically correct, but you get the idea。) 。。。more

I read about 70% of the free serial before buying the full printed edition and jumping into it。 This series will always be a favorite。 I very much appreciate the authors sharing the story chapter-by-chapter and releasing a published version with extras because it feels like a reward for reading both and paying for the edited published edition。

I love this series but I really struggled with this one。 Keeping the characters' names/species/secondary names/home planets straight was nigh impossible。 I also really struggled imagining scenes from the descriptions and would have to reread paragraphs multiple times (and often still wouldn't understand what was trying to be said and have to give up and move on)。 I didn't reread the previous books so couldn't remember past plots too well either which annoyed me a little too but that's my own fau I love this series but I really struggled with this one。 Keeping the characters' names/species/secondary names/home planets straight was nigh impossible。 I also really struggled imagining scenes from the descriptions and would have to reread paragraphs multiple times (and often still wouldn't understand what was trying to be said and have to give up and move on)。 I didn't reread the previous books so couldn't remember past plots too well either which annoyed me a little too but that's my own fault。Overall fun, but too many instances of me being confused pulled me out of the story。 。。。more

Okay, I still really loved this, but it was too much for 5 stars。 It was just too much information。 I couldn‘t keep up。 Maybe I need the audiobook which always did a great job differentiating between the many characters and cultures。 It also felt like Dina would give her all in every situation, but then the next situation demanded more of her power and hey, what a surprise, Dina found even more in her to face the next bigger evil。I still loved it but in the moment it doesn‘t feel like a 5 star b Okay, I still really loved this, but it was too much for 5 stars。 It was just too much information。 I couldn‘t keep up。 Maybe I need the audiobook which always did a great job differentiating between the many characters and cultures。 It also felt like Dina would give her all in every situation, but then the next situation demanded more of her power and hey, what a surprise, Dina found even more in her to face the next bigger evil。I still loved it but in the moment it doesn‘t feel like a 5 star book。 。。。more

The husband and wife writing team, nee' Ilona Andrews, has done it again。 I love this series so much。 Another reviewer called it "the Bachelor meets The Hunger Games" and I agree, but with the addition of fantasy, scifi, and Texas。 This one didn't make 5 stars because the huge cast of characters overwhelmed the story at times, especially because every single character is conducting some kind of political intrigue that has to be followed。 Also, while I loved the ending, it is open ended。 Still, I The husband and wife writing team, nee' Ilona Andrews, has done it again。 I love this series so much。 Another reviewer called it "the Bachelor meets The Hunger Games" and I agree, but with the addition of fantasy, scifi, and Texas。 This one didn't make 5 stars because the huge cast of characters overwhelmed the story at times, especially because every single character is conducting some kind of political intrigue that has to be followed。 Also, while I loved the ending, it is open ended。 Still, I'm a huge fan, and this book is yet one more example why。 。。。more
